True to form, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) made some alarming statements recently in an interview with Chuck Todd on ‘Meet The Press.’ Seizing on the recent news of the trapped Thai soccer team, Durbin used their plight to slam the Trump Administration over their zero tolerance illegal immigration policy.

Durbin said, “Before I get into that, hearts and prayers are with those boys in Thailand, trapped in the cave. I hope our hearts and prayers are also with thousands of children, toddlers and infants, removed from their parents by the Trump Administration, under zero tolerance. They’re trapped in a bureaucratic cave, too. Let’s not forget them.”

Here’s the transcript:

TODD: “Let me start with the supreme Court. Mitch McConnell has said he’d like to see it go in the direction of either Thomas Hardiman or Kethledge, believing they’d be less controversial, perhaps, than the other two. What’s your assessment of that, sir?”

DURBIN: “Before I get into that, hearts and prayers are with those boys in Thailand, trapped in the cave. I hope our hearts and prayers are also with thousands of children, toddlers and infants, removed from their parents by the Trump Administration, under zero tolerance. They’re trapped in a bureaucratic cave, too. Let’s not forget them. To your question, all of these nominees have been pre-cleared by something called the Federalist Society. This is a group that looks carefully at each one of the nominees to make certain that they can check all the boxes when it comes to the most conservative political agenda in America.
