Mike Huckabee, former pastor, and Arkansas governor offers some reason to the protestors at the “March For Our Lives” rally last Saturday in Washington, D.C., reports the Conservative Tribune.
In an appearance on “Fox and Friends,” Huckabee shed some light into the recent demonstrations occurring around the nation.
“I salute these students for their passion and their energy, and for their interest in helping to shape public policy, but I would say this to them: emotion is a terrible substitute for truth.”
“It is a terrible substitute for facts,” Huckabee continued. “And they’ve been used, by believing that if they just ban a certain type of firearm, that things are going to be better.”
Huckabee’s point has actually been validated. The numerous solutions offered by the Left to absolve the nation of crime would have little effect on the actions of criminals.
In fact, FBI data confirms that there are more murders committed using “knives or cutting weapons” than there are using rifles, including so-called “assault rifles.”
In 2016, there were less than 400 murders committed using rifles in the United States, while an enormous 1,604 murders were committed using knives.
“Here’s the facts: Five times more people are killed in America by knives… than they are by rifles,” Huckabee explained.
Moreover, there were even more murders committed using no weapon at all than were committed using rifles.
“It’s also true that over 86 percent of the 20,000 police chiefs and sheriffs in America do not support repealing concealed carry, but rather support it,” Huckabee continued. “And they don’t support more gun control methods.”
Between 2007 and 2015, the murder rate decreased by 14 percent, while concealed carry permits increased by 215 percent during that same time period.
Huckabee’s primary point is a heavy reminder to lean on facts and logic during times of extreme anti-gun activism.
As the Conservative Tribune reports, “American schools are actually some of the safest places in the country. Contrary to the narrative, mass shootings in schools have not be dramatically increasing in recent years. Students have a higher probability of being killed riding their bikes or walking to school than by a school shooter.”
The mainstream media and liberal agenda is making it more difficult than ever to distinguish the line between truth and deception, but as Huckabee stated, “emotion is a terrible substitute for truth.”
