Edward Klein, who has written a number of books using insider political information, revealed today that Bill Clinton threw out the manuscript of Hillary Clinton’s latest book “What Happened.” The author teased this tidbit in promoting his newest book “All Out War: The Plot To Destroy Trump,” which is due out October 30.
Apparently Bill was mortified by the finger-pointing in her book. The book is filled with excuses for why she lost. Bill took exception to this tactic and is reportedly “heartsick” that she chose to go down this road. So much so, that he threw the manuscript in the garbage after she refused to take his advice:
“’Before Hillary sent the manuscript to her publisher, she gave it to Bill to read, and he made major changes with a red pencil,’ said a close Clinton family friend. ‘But she refused to even read his corrections, and he got so furious that he tossed the entire manuscript into the garbage.
“’He told her the book made her look bewildered, angry and confused, and that those were poor qualities in a person who aspired to be a world leader,’ the friend continued.
“’He hated the title because calling it ‘What Happened’ would only make people say, ‘You lost.’ He urged her to postpone the pub date and rewrite the book, but she yelled at him and said, ‘The book is finished and that’s how it’s going to be published.’ ”
That’s cold. Klein also alleges that Bill tried to warn her a month before the election that she was losing. Hillary responded by saying Bill was ‘delusional.’ And it is causing issues between them now:
“’Bill’s criticism— and what Hillary sees as his lack of sympathy — has driven a wedge between them,’ the friend said. ‘They haven’t been speaking for months. They’ve been communicating through friends and lawyers.’
But to be fair a representative to Bill Clinton said Klein’s allegations were untrue:
“’Ed is a sad man,’ a spokesman for Hillary said. ‘And a pathetic liar,’ added Bill’s rep.”
But what are they supposed to say? That the allegations are 100% true? Of course not! So we will have to wait and see what evidence Mr. Klein presents in his book. But it doesn’t surprise me that Bill would feel the way he allegedly does about the election and her book. Say what you want about Bill Clinton, and there is plenty of things to criticize him on, but he understands politics better than most people on the left and the right.
What does a book blaming others for Hillary’s loss do for her other than provide some royalty checks? And it stands to reason that he understood Hillary was making fatal mistakes during her campaign. The writing was on the wall, yet still many believed it would be a slam dunk for Hillary Clinton. If anyone could see past the media bias and flawed polling, it would be Bill Clinton.
But at this point Bill Clinton can’t publicly condemn his own wife and he knows it. So why would he ever confirm the Klein allegations?
